Clint Burbridge | Artist Bio
Clint Burbridge is a multi-disciplinary artist, who currently lives and works in Atlantic Beach, Florida. The full spectrum of his life’s work ranges from Contemporary Art, Commercial art, to Art Education. He graduated with honors from Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn New York, with a BFA in Drawing and Painting. He was a recipient of the E. Burcher Scholarship for Achievement in Fine Arts.
Clint was the Art Director at Jacksonville Magazine and worked for many years as an Independent Contractor with various ad agencies throughout Jacksonville. He has been an Adjunct Professor at Florida State College Jacksonville, teaching Computer Drawing (Adobe Illustrator) and Computer Photo Manipulation (Adobe Photoshop). He designs/builds contemporary furniture and has illustrated children’s books. He currently works on a contractual basis designing and maintaining websites for a wide range of clients, as he pursues his fine arts endeavors.
In his most recent work, he has been combining elements of hand blown glass and plastic/epoxy 3D printed components. He sometimes contrasts the natural tendencies of the two media, or has them work in tandem. Living in a lush environment near the ocean shores, one cannot help sensing Clint’s references to an imaginary alien ocean. He taps into a well of originality, by combining 3D printing, an emerging technology with hand-blown glass, another medium that reflects the abundant material of sand in the beaches of his surrounding environment. When asked, what his art is about besides his interest in the convergence of technologies, he asserts his inspiration to be art history, especially the narrative of early 20thcentury modernism. When an artist completes one or a series of works, a particular energy and sensibility is conveyed; in Clint’s case he hopes to capture and communicate a sense of “joie de vivre” as presented with forms, spatial manipulation and color schemes.
Clint has been featured on the September/Oct 2016 cover of Arbus Magazine. He has shown in Brookyn, NY; at the Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art; as well as the FSCJ South Gallery; the Alexander Brest Micro Gallery – Jacksonville University; the Glass Invitational 2019 – St. Petersburg, FL; the Morean Art Center – St. Petersburg, FL; the Jacksonville International Airport; The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens; AQUA Art Basel Miami 2019 and various galleries statewide.
